List of Healthy Vegan Desserts

Are you looking to follow a vegan diet?

Switching over to a vegan diet can do wonders for your health (not to mention, the environment). Studies show that following a vegan diet can help improve kidney function, protect you against heart disease, protect you against certain types of cancers, and reduce arthritis-related pain. It can also help you lose weight.

One of the biggest misconceptions about the vegan diet is that you can’t eat sweets. However, there are plenty of healthy vegan desserts that you can enjoy. Read this post to learn about the best healthy vegan desserts.

1. Banana Bread

Banana bread is perhaps one of the best vegan desserts to try. Instead of using eggs in your banana bread, you can use applesauce or extra bananas

Plus, there are so many different banana bread recipes to try, from traditional to pumpkin spice to salted caramel. You can even make banana bread with dark chocolate chips to make it vegan-friendly.

The key to making great vegan banana bread is finding the right recipe. Go Nana’s has a great banana bread recipe that can help get you started. The recipe calls for ripe bananas, coconut oil, maple syrup, and non-dairy milk.

Soy milk is one of the most popular non-dairy milk options for baking, but you can also use almond milk or coconut milk.

Here are some other vegan banana recipes to go crazy over!

2. Donuts

Donuts are one of the most popular pastries in America. It seems like new artisanal donut shops are popping up every day selling donuts topped with cereal, candy, and other unique ingredients.

The downside to these donut shops is that a lot of them don’t sell vegan donuts. Luckily, you can make your own vegan donuts at home. Go Nanas has a great list of quick and easy vegan donut recipes to satisfy your sweet tooth.

3.  Pudding

Chocolate pudding

Pudding is a super easy dessert option for vegans craving a sweet treat. Most pudding recipes are low in calories, and there are all kinds of puddings you can make to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Best of all, it’s really easy to make a single-serve pudding dessert. If you’re a fan of bananas, Go Nanas has an excellent single-serve pudding recipe. The recipe calls for vanilla pudding, which normally contains dairy. However, you can make your own vanilla pudding at home by substituting dairy milk for regular milk

Here’s another vegan chocolate pudding recipe that you can try out:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of non-dairy milk or one can of coconut milk
  • ¼ cup of dutch cocoa powder
  • ⅛ tsp of salt
  • ½ cup of vegan milk + 3 tbsp of corn starch
  • ¾ tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup of maple syrup or honey

Instructions

Here’s what you need to do to make the chocolate pudding:

  1. Heat up the 2 cups of milk in a saucepan along with the cocoa powder and sweetener.
  2. While the ingredients heat, whisk the ½ cup of milk and cornstarch in a small bowl until dissolved.
  3. Add the cornstarch and milk mixture to the saucepan with the milk and sweetener.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, and once at a boil, stir for two minutes.
  5. Lower the heat for a simmer and stir for one more minute.
  6. Turn off the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. If you wish, you can also stir in some vegan chocolate chips to make it extra chocolatey.
  7. Move the pudding to a bowl and transfer it to the fridge so it can cool and thicken.
  8. The longer it sits in the fridge, the thicker it will get, so you may want to leave it in there overnight before eating.

After letting the pudding sit in the fridge, it’s time to enjoy!

As you can see, there are many delicious healthy vegan desserts for you to try. If you find a dessert recipe that looks good but isn’t vegan, you can likely make it vegan by substituting some ingredients.

For example, any time a recipe calls for milk, you can substitute nut milk, soy milk, or any other non-dairy milk. If a recipe calls for eggs, you can substitute bananas, applesauce, or Aguafaba. While milk chocolate contains dairy, you can always substitute dark chocolate.
