An Ode to the Donut: 5 Quick and Easy Donut Recipes to Fulfill your Donut Craving


Donuts are one of those treats that everyone loves. However, it is usually hard to find donuts that are vegan, gluten free, and made out of ingredients that are nutritious for your body. Well, this is why I have compiled 6 of our favorite donut recipes that anyone can eat and will fulfill your donut craving! All of these recipes use GoNanas banana bread baking mixes as their main ingredient. As a reminder, all of GoNanas banana bread baking mixes are allergen-free, vegan, and gluten-free! Is there anything better than delicious AND healthy banana bread?! I think not! Therefore, you can whip up these donut recipes for anyone and everyone to enjoy!


Cinnamon Toast Crunch Banana Bread Donuts

I think we can all agree that Cinnamon Toast Crunch is the best cereal out there. So what better combination is there than Cinnamon Toast Crunch on a banana bread bread donut? @healthbylexi whipped up this recipe that will have you grabbing for seconds before you even finish your first donut!


Ingredients you’ll need

For the donuts:

  • 1 GoNanas Crackly Banana Bread Mix
  • 3 small ripe or 2 large ripe mashed bananas
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil (can sub canola oil, avocado oil, or butter)
  • 2 tbsp almond milk (can sub milk of choice)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (can sub honey or agave)

For the glaze: 

  • 4 tbsp powdered sugar
  • Dash of almond milk or milk of choice

For the topping:

  • Cinnamon toast Catalina Crunch (or cinnamon cereal of choice- for gluten free option, we recommend Cinnamon Rice Chex and for a vegan option, we recommend Barbara’s Puffins Cinnamon Cereal)

Directions

  1.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, grease donut pans.
  2. Combine all wet ingredients into a bowl, mix Crackly mix (follow instructions on package).
  3. Combine the 4 tbsp of powdered sugar with a dash of almond milk and stir. Make sure your glaze is thick and repeat the process if more glaze is needed. 
  4. Place donut batter into donut molds and place in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Top donuts with glaze and cinnamon toast cereal and enjoy!

  • Peanut Butter Crunch Banana Bread Donuts

    We are firm believers that Peanut Butter belongs in or on everything! And the added crunch only brings these donuts by @thenutritiousnorm to the next level!


    Ingredients you’ll need

    • 1 GoNanas Crackly Banana Bread Mix
    • 3 small ripe or 2 large ripe mashed bananas
    • 2 tbsp coconut oil (can sub canola oil, avocado oil, or butter)
    • 1 tbsp non-dairy milk (can sub milk of choice)
    • 1 tbsp maple syrup (can sub honey or agave)
    • 2 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
    • ⅓ cup of creamy peanut butter
    • ⅓-½ cup peanut butter granola of choice

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, prepare GoNanas mix as on package and add in 2 tbsp of crunchy peanut butter.
    2. Grease 2 donut pans, pour and distribute donut batter evenly.
    3. Bake for 25-30 minutes, remove and let cool.
    4. Warm up your creamy peanut butter in a bowl until runny, put granola in a separate bowl
    5. Dip each cooled donut first in runny peanut butter, then the bowl with granola. Leave aside, let set, and serve!

  • Vanilla Glazed Pumpkin Spice Banana Bread Donuts

    These vanilla glazed pumpkin spice banana bread donuts by @absoluteehealth make us miss the fall weather! These donuts pair great with a hot cup of coffee!


    Ingredients you’ll need

    For the Donuts

    • 1 GoNanas Pumpkin Spice Banana Bread Mix
    • 3 small ripe or 2 large ripe mashed bananas
    • 2 tbsp coconut oil (can sub canola oil, avocado oil, or butter)
    • 2 tbsp non-dairy milk (can sub milk of choice)
    • 1 tbsp maple syrup (can sub honey or agave)

    For the Glaze

    • ½ cup of organic confectioner’s sugar
    • ½ tsp vanilla extract
    • 2 tsp non-dairy milk

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease donut pan.
    2. Prepare Pumpkin Spice GoNanas mix as directed on package.
    3. Place batter into the donut pan and place in oven for 25-30 minutes. 
    4. Combine ingredients to make glaze
    5. Take donuts of the oven, let sit and then dip in glaze, and you’re ready to serve and enjoy!

  • Banana Bread Crumb Donuts

    My second favorite type of bread (banana bread is my ultimate favorite!) is a coffee crumb cake. So what can be better than combining them into a donut?! @lsgfit is the mastermind behind this amazing concoction.


    Ingredients you’ll need

    • 1 GoNanas Original Banana Bread Mix
    • 3 small ripe or 2 large ripe mashed bananas
    • 2 tbsp coconut oil (can sub canola oil, avocado oil, or butter)
    • 1 tbsp non-dairy milk (can sub milk of choice)
    • 1 tbsp maple syrup (can sub honey or agave)
    • ½ cup brown sugar
    • ½ cup flour (can sub for gf flour)
    • 3 tbsp butter (can sub neutral oil)
    • Sprinkle of cinnamon

     

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease donut pans. Make batter according to directions on the packaging.
    2. In a separate bowl, combine ½ cup brown sugar with flour and some cinnamon. 
    3. Cut 3 tbsp of butter with a pastry cutter.
    4. Sprinkle crumb coating over banana bread mixture, bake and enjoy!

  • Chocolate Frosted Banana Bread Donuts

    Chocolate frosting takes any baking recipe to the next level. These chocolate frosted banana bread donuts by @missfoodietwoshoes are no exception!


    Ingredients you’ll need

    • 1 GoNanas Banana Bread Mix of choice (my favorite for this recipe is Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Mix)
    • 3 small ripe or 2 large ripe mashed bananas
    • 4 tbsp coconut oil (can sub canola oil, avocado oil, or butter)
    • 3 tbsp non-dairy milk (can sub milk of choice)
    • 1 tbsp maple syrup (can sub honey or agave)
    • ½ cup chocolate chips

     

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease donut pans. 
    2. Mash bananas and combine wet ingredients, once fully combined, add in mix and stir until smooth.
    3. Spoon batter into 2 donut pans and pop in the oven for 15 minutes.
    4. While the donuts are in the oven, melt ½ cup of chocolate chips.
    5. Allow donuts to cool completely before popping them out of the pan, frost with chocolate and let it set before eating and enjoy!
